What We Don't Know

Hi, there!

Maggie Tielker

Glad you’d like to know a little bit more about me.

Lets start from the beginning: I grew up in a small town in Indiana called Fort Wayne. (Yes, I wore shoes. No, I didn’t live on a farm.)

My parents encouraged my creativity by giving me sketch books, music lessons, and a portable typewriter. They sent me to drama and art camp, and entered me in writing competitions.

A few years later, I drove my Mother nuts by joining a band and obsessing over it every minute of the day. We were totally going to be the next Destiny’s Child...or not.

That obsession soon became more serious, and by the time I was 18 I was ready for rock-stardom. After a few self-made albums and minivan tours, we finally recorded a world-class demo with an insanely talented producer. Sadly, the pressure of the music industry and reality-show-esque drama of living with three teen/early twenties band mates became too overwhelming. The band was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to let go of.

Coming out of that, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with myself. I had already enrolled in college, so I switched my major from ‘Undecided’ to a Multimedia program that included music (production, sound design, & theory), along with graphic & web design, programming, and film & video production. I graduated last May with a degree in Art & Technology and a certification in Digital Arts & Culture from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.

I’ve been working as a web designer and marketer/creative ever since. My love of creating art in other forms has never stopped, and I moved to Los Angeles in August of 2011. If you're in the area, I'd love to talk to you about pushing pixels or writing horror films.
